We’re excited to offer a limited number of drop-in spots for families who would like to join us! While the program is designed to be most enriching when experienced as a muliple week session, dropping in on a class can be a wonderful way to explore and enjoy a class.
Children thrive with regular weekly attendance, as it helps them grow more comfortable with the music and activities while building connections with other families in our musical community.
If you’re planning to join us for more than one class, you’ll just need to purchase the Home Materials for the session—these help bring the music experience to life both in and out of class.

Why Join a Music Class for Your Baby?
Every baby is born ready for music. Just as they naturally absorb the sounds of spoken language, babies soak in the sounds and patterns of music all around them. Research continues to show that early musical experiences support babies’ physical, emotional, and intellectual development, strengthening important cognitive and sensory connections.
In class, your baby is gently introduced to the “language” of music through simple, repeating patterns. These playful experiences help build the ear–brain connection, laying the foundation for future skills like pitch, rhythm, and musical expression. Before you know it, your little one will begin to respond and imitate—taking their first joyful steps into music-making.
Who Is This Class For?
This class is for babies of all ages, from newborn up to about 16–18 months. Families are welcome to join at any time—some parents even enroll before their baby arrives and begin once they’re ready!
What Happens in Class?
Each class is filled with warm, playful musical experiences: singing, gentle dancing, rocking, steady beat activities, simple instruments, scarves, rhymes, fingerplays, lullabies, and musical games. Everything is thoughtfully designed to nurture your baby’s development while giving you a rich collection of songs and activities to use at home.
Just as importantly, these classes create special moments of connection—supporting bonding between you and your baby while surrounding you with a joyful, welcoming community.

New Friends is this sessions unit of for all our Toddler music Classes. We will delight in the endless energy of your children, their joy in bouncing, rocking, and dancing with you, and in seeing them develop in this wonderful, musical environment! As we watch them grow, we can imagine them singing in the choir, playing in the band, or playing songs on the piano for a family gathering in just a few years. As we sing, bounce, rock, dance, and play instruments together we are laying the foundation necessary for success in music, regardless of which path your toddler takes in the future.
Our 2 and 3 year olds are always moving! In fact movement is not only your young child’s favorite new-found skill, it is your child’s most effective way to learn. Although children eventually have to learn to “sit still and listen” they can not do it yet, and engaging them in purposeful movement activities is the perfect preparation for this all-important skill.

Always on the move, toddlers are endlessly curious about the world around them They're expressing themselves (often loudly) and quickly developing a sense of independence that can be wonderful and, at times, frustrating. That's why Musikgarten developed Family Music for Toddlers. This four-semester program uses music and movement to help growing toddlers develop key skills that are vital for all learning; listening, following directions, impulse control, communication, and positive social interaction.
Like all Musikgarten courses, Family Music for Toddlers is designed to enhance your child's social, emotional, intellectual, and physical development, while building a foundation for future musical proficiency. And that's important for you to know. For your toddler, it's all about the pure fun of music and movement shared with you.
Family Music for Toddlers is a two year program divided into four 15 week Units: Sing with Me, Play with Me, Dance with Me and Clap with Me. We meet weekly and fill the class time with action-filled musical activities for the whole family - from babies to young children and their parents. Together you’ll sing, chant, move, dance, listen, and play simple instruments, all activities that bridge the natural connection between music and movement through four wonder-filled semesters.
Each lesson features movement activities for coordination, body awareness and control, exploration of space, and instruments such as rhythm sticks, jingles, rattles, drums, and resonator bars.
Additionally, you will be able to listen to the wonderful recordings we use in class at home or in your car. The material comes as a CD and as downloadable files. Also included is a parent activity book and an instrument or scarf to use at home for more fun time together.

This music and movement program gives your child a solid music-making foundation in a fun music-filled environment. We focus on your child's fascination with cultures from around the world.
We will be exploring the culture, stories and music from:
- The British Isles (session 1A)
- AmerIndians (session 1B)
- Germany, the Land of the Great Composers (session 2A)
- African American Heritage (session 2B)
We will also create music ensembles using a variety of instruments. Also we will begin to introduce the piano, playing choreography games, learning a basic hand position and perhaps finding the pieces we love to sing in class at the piano. There is no requirement to own a piano at home and there will be no "practice the piano" home work during this year.
The program provides a developmentally sound approach to music literacy that builds symbolic thinking, concentration, memory, and self-expression, introduces orchestral instruments and ensemble play and focuses on building a child's aural (listening) foundation which leads to long-term success with voice, enhancement of self-discipline and social skills, first steps in reading music.
The next session of Music Makers starts September and continues for two sessions of 15 classes ending through May.
All Students will receive the following home material for the September through January session.

The session material also includes a Parent Booklet covering both units.

New students will need to purchase the Music Makers notebook, the Musikgarten Red Bag and the instruments for home play set. The cost for this is $60 above the home material and tuition fee.

Music Makers: At the Keyboard is a comprehensive approach to learning music. Learning music comprehensively is much more than being able to name notes or being able to differentiate between quarter and half notes. Comprehensive musicianship leads a child to music literacy, or the ability to hear in one’s head music that is written on the page. Conversely, the musically literate person will be able to figure how to play the melody, harmony, and rhythm of a piece s/he hears, without needing to see the written music.
Music Makers: At the Keyboard is a group method. By studying the piano in a group setting, singing games and movement activities are naturally a part of the experience. These are the very things that nurture the musician inside each child, making success at the keyboard possible. The group also allows children to learn from each other and overcome performance anxiety. Most importantly, the group setting keeps the fun in music-making.
Music Makers: At the Keyboard is an aural approach. Years of experience have shown us that children learn to read and understand musical notation only after they have a strong aural foundation in place. In Music Makers: At the Keyboard, keyboard skills are layered on at the appropriate time and at an appropriate pace, thereby allowing the aural foundation to be established and reinforced. But that doesn’t mean that the children won’t be playing very much. The fact is that in the first year, they will be taught to play more than 25 songs in the keys of C, D, E, F, and G Major and c, d, e, f, and g minor. Additionally, the children will be playing I, IV, and V7 chords in multiple keys with both hands!
Music Makers: At the Keyboard lays the groundwork for keyboard success! Through the variety of activities in each class the children become independent musicians. They have both a love of music and a love of a specific repertoire, both of which are major incentives for practicing. In addition to playing the keyboards, the children will be involved in drumming and dancing to nurture their rhythmic development, singing to nurture their tonal development, and echoing patterns to nurture their aural development. And composing and musical dictation activities lead the child to music literacy.
Children who complete Music Makers: At the Keyboard not only possess a strong desire to make music, they have the aural and keyboard skills that will enable them to do so. It prepares children for future piano study, as well as whatever musical adventures the future holds!
